Barred Owl (Strix varia) fledglings in the midst of begging calls while perched in a Bigleaf Maple (Acer macrophyllum) tree. Barred Owl owlets can be fed by parents for months after leaving the nest while they learn to hunt for themselves. An adult was heard hooting nearby but did not visit the owlets while I was there. Photographed at Campbell Valley Park in Langley, British Columbia, Canada.
