The Peace Arch at the Peace Arch (Douglas) Border Crossing from Surrey British Columbia. The Peace Arch was built in 1921 and straddles the border between the United States and Canada. The Peace Arch was built to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of treaties at the end of the War of 1812 between the USA and Great Britain. One side states "Children Of A Common Mother", the other "Brethren Dwelling Together In Unity". Parks straddle the border as well, Peace Arch Provincial Park on the Canadian side, and Peace Arch Historical State Park on the Washington State side.
