A male Mandarin Duck (Aix galericulata) caught in mid jump from a branch at Burnaby Lake Regional Park in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Mandarin Ducks are not native to North America and this one is most likely an escapee or was blown way off course during a migration. This individual has done quite well here over several years in a few different lakes, and even has a Wood Duck female as a mate.
